Witchcraft Courts in Sierra Leone
Local tabloids have revealed that Witchcraft Courts now exist in the city of Freetown. According to reports, people are now charged into the court and if found guilty they are detained by witch doctors, who force them to drink all types of concoctions to prove that they are no more witches or wizards. Many people have reportedly undergone the ordeal.
Education Ministry Exposes FBC
Reports have it that the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Mr. Sheku Tamu has reportedly pointed out that his ministry will take the appropriate action to ensure that authorities at Fourah Bay College (FBC) comply with the Ministry’s directives, regarding fees at the College. Reports say the Ministry has written many letters to all tertiary institutions for the latter not to increase fees this years but FBC authorities have ordered the students to pay additional fees. Reports say all other colleges in the country have reduced their increment to the normal fees.
Rokel Village Head Debunks Council Threat
Reports have alleged that the Head Woman of the Rokel Village, Mrs. Yamide Langley, has strongly condemned the action of the Western Area Rural District Council (WARDC) as the Council demanded that all headmen in that area should surrender their symbols of authority. According to reports, the Council had, in since June 2008, declared those positions vacant. Mrs. Langley say the action is very unprecedented, whilst vowing that she will only surrender her symbol after another election.
Civilians to Aid MACP
Local tabloids say community people will soon join the Military Aid to Civil Power (MACP), to secure the entire nation. According to reports, the military will soon be relieved from the MACP operations, whilst the civilians in various communities will help the police to protect their environments. Reports say all community watch members are going to be screened by both the police and some community members to select strong and crime free men.
AWOL Awards Slated for December
Local tabloids say this year’s All Works of Life (AWOL) award ceremony will, as usual, take place at the Family Kingdom Hall in Freetown, on 24th December 2009. Reports say there are fifteen (15) categories of awards for which nominations will be received, processed and investigated, and decided by the awards committee. The National Achievement Award (NAA) will in one way or the other significantly contributed to nation building by recognizing and rewarding desiring individuals, companies, government and private institutions and prostates.
Orthodox Church for Salone
It has been reportedly revealed that the Orthodox Church of Jesus Christ (Greek Orthodox) in 2008 joined other religious denominations to establish a branch in Sierra Leone. According to reports, the Church has outlined many developmental plans for the country including free education and many other opportunities. The Church has flourished in many parts of the world.
