Bishop T.S. Bangura laid to rest in Sierra Leone

 Bishop Thomas Syla Bangura
The Life of a Great Man
Date of Birth - 25th June, 1925.

.Attended primary schools at United Methodist Church schools at Ronietta and Rotifunk respectively.
.Attended Secondary School at Albert Academy, from 1940 - 1944 and graduated with the school's diploma.
.Taught in the UMC school at Yonibana in 1945 and attended Fourah Bay College in 1946 - 1947.
.Entered the Ministry of the United Methodist Church and was or­dained in 1951.

.Served as Pastor at Bradford, Moyamba, Roruks and Yonibana and was awarded a year's Ministerial scholarship at United Theological Seminar in Dayton, Ohio in 1954.
.Returned home in 1955 and continued service at Yonibana and Magburaka up to 1958.

.Left in 1959 and entered the University of Akron in September 1959 and graduated with a BA degree in philosophy in 1963.
.Admitted at Columbia University and graduated with MA (Educational Administration) and returned home. Taught at Taiama Secondary School and was later appointed Education Secretary os the United Christian Council from  1965-1975.

.Appointed Senior Pastor of King Memorial United Methodist Church with a membership of over 2,000 in '1976, and in 1979 was elected Bishop of Sierra Leone Conference of the United Methodist Church. He retired in 1992.
.Taught at the Theological Hall after his retire­
ment as Bishop of the United Methodist Con­
ference in Sierra Leone.

.Awarded the Order of the Commander of the Rokel in recognition of his distinguished ser­ vice in the Christian Ministry and the Nation.
.He was married to Regina Bangura (nee Tay­lor) for over 50 years and the union-was blessed with four children -Tom jr. (Opa), Konie .
(Mrs. Jeneba Yaskey) Sam and Ansu.
