Speaker of Parliament, Honourable Justice Edmund K. Cowan on Saturday, 17th March 2007 turned age Seventy (70) and this auspicious occasion was celebrated at the Family Kingdom and was attended by Parliamentarians, Ministers and a host of local and international personalities. The ceremony was chaired by Justice Nicholas Browne Mark.

One of the invitees to the occasion, Hon. A.O.D.George who gave a Toast to the health of the Celebrant noted with humor "the sweet and prosperous life of Justice Cowan, stating that had he toyed with his precious life at his youthful age, they would not have been with him celebrating his 70th Birthday. He reminisced over some of his memorable times with the Celebrant noting that in spite of all the galore, buoyancy and youthful enthusiasm, the Celebrant paid great attention to what he was doing, which he said made him what he is today. He wished Justice Edmund Cowan "many, many more years of sparkling and prosperous life."
