More than Fifty Past and Present Presidents, and Heads of States of Governments including Sierra Leone’s President Ernest Bai Koroma are in the Federal Republic of Nigeria to join their colleague and brother Nigeria’s President Good luck Ebele Jonathan, the Government and People of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in celebrating the Country’s fifty years independence anniversary.
Nigeria attained Independence on October 1st 1960 from Britain, and the Government of the Feral Republic of Nigeria had promised to celebrate the golden jubilee in a grand- style.
On arrival at the Presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport today September 30th, President Ernest Bai Koroma and delegation including First Lady Mrs Sia Nyama Koroma, Mineral Resources Minister Hon. Alhaji Alpha Kanu, Brigadier K.S. Mondeh and Mrs Musu Dao were warmly received by Hon. Minister of water Resources Chief Obadiah Ando, other Nigerian Government officials and Sierra Leone High Commission officials.

Permission was sought from President Ernest Bai Koroma by a parade commander, before being led to a saluting daze, for the National Anthems of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Sierra Leone played by Nigeria’s Military Band: from where he inspected a full Guard of Honour mounted by Nigeria’s Guards Brigade under the command of Lt –Col. I.O. Olatunji.
Prior to his arrival, former South African President Thabo Mbeki, Namibia’s Sam Nujoma, and other past presidents of South, East and West Africa had arrived on Wednesday and Early Thursday respectively.
