A mysterious occurrence took place on Sunday 20th March, 2011 at the Levuma Beach community along the Goderich Peninsular when a six months old baby, Nenneh Sia Mansaray, met her untimely death after she was hit on the head by a fallen nut from a coconut tree.

According to an eyewitness who gave her name as Sento Karimu and an aunt to the deceased, her elder sister Marie Sesay was on a visit from Kabala with her daughter. She said at about 4:30pm on that fateful day, the child was laid to rest under the tree after being breast fed.

“When I returned from the yard few minutes later I discovered Nenneh lying down in a pool of blood and a big coconut lying beside her,” she explained in tears. She said she then alerted neighbors who helped them rush with her a nearby health center.

“But due to excessive bleeding and internal head injury she was unable to survive, and she subsequently lost her life.”

However when contacted, the mother of the deceased attributed the mysterious occurrence on the work of witchcrafts.

The remains of the late Nenneh have already been buried at the Lumley Cemetery.
