OBITUARY ANNOUNCEMENT
The death is announced of Gabriel H. Amara, which sad event took place in Bo on Saturday 25th June 2011 at the age of 72. Funeral Mass will take place at the St. Anthony’s Parish, Brookfields, Freetown, on Wednesday 13th July 2011 at 6:00pm and at St. Theresa’s Parish New Gerihun Road Bo at 11:00am on the 15th July 2011. Brief Profile of the late Gabriel Henry Amara
The late Gabriel Henry Amara was born in 1939. He attained primary education in Gerehun from 1948 to 1953. He attended the Christ the King College (C.K.C) Bo from 1953 to 1958 and later pursued tertiary education. Amara is on record for being the first student of C.K.C Bo with an admission number of 001. He was enrolled at the Teachers Training College, FBC from 1959 to 1961 and graduated with an Advanced Teachers Certificate. The late man became a member of staff of C.K.C Bo in 1962 and served there until 1965. From there, he went to Fourah Bay College from 1965 to June 1969 and graduated with a B.A Diploma. He furthered his academic struggle at F.B.C from 1969 to June 1970 and graduated with a Diploma in Education. In the same 1970, he became Vice Principal at the Yengema Secondary School; a position he maintained until 1972. In 1973, he became Acting Principal of Sewafe Secondary School. He later received a Post Graduate Diploma in Education Management and Administration in Scotland. From 1974 to 1980, he was Principal of Yengema Secondary School Kono.
In 1980, he became Principal of C.K.C Bo, making him the first black principal of C.K.C. He served in that capacity onto 1994.
In January 1997, he became Proprietor of St. Jude’s Model Academy Bo; a position he held until June 2011.
The late man spent his life as a teacher. May his soul rest in perfect peace.
