Pursuant to Section 30(1) and 32(2) of the Petroleum Exploration and Production Act 2011, the Sierra Leone Petroleum Directorate announces Sierra Leone’s 2011/2012 Petroleum Bid Round for the following  nine (9) blocks (SL-4A-10, SL-7A-10, SL-7C-10, SL-8A-10, SL-8B-10, SL-9A-10, SL-9B-10, SL-10A-10 and SL-10B-10), totalling about 21242 sq km.

The Bid Period will span from 29thDecember 2011 to 30th March, 2012.

About 5,800 line km of reprocessed 2D seismic, 3,200sq km of 3D seismic data covering some of these blocks, well information and regional interpretation are available for purchase at the offices of TGS-NOPEC in Houston, Oslo and Bedford, UK. Companies can purchase data for some of the blocks. Other bidding documents and details of the process and criteria for evaluation of bids are obtainable from the Petroleum Directorate.

Oil companies are invited to evaluate our Hydrocarbon potential and bid for a block or blocks. We have a hybrid of royalty-tax and a carried interest for the National Oil Company with competitive rates.

This bid round closes at 12noon on the 30th March, 2012 and bids would be opened at 12:05 midday at the Conference room of the Petroleum Directorate, 43 Siaka Stevens Street, Freetown.

Government reserves the right to withdraw the bid round and is not bound to choose the highest bidder.
