Twenty-five Sierra Leoneans, mainly youths, have benefited from a six months intensive training on entrepreneurial skills. The Training culminated in a one week intensive session on how to do refilling and remanufacturing of all types of printer toner and ink cartridges. The training which was organized by a Non-Governmental Organization, known as Messeh Partnership Trust (MPT) and its subsidiary, ‘Made in Sierra Leone Cooperative (MSLC)’, was held on Saturday 10th 2012 at 14 Small Waterloo Street in Freetown.
According to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Founder of Made in Sierra Leone Cooperative, Mr. Abu Bakarr Messeh Kamara, training is organized to train Sierra Leoneans who are currently seeking employment. According to him, after going through the training, the twenty-five beneficiaries would work in Made in Sierra Leone Cooperative’s office in Freetown to remanufacture and refill all type of printer cartridges.
For his part, the Project Coordinator of the Made in Sierra Leone Cooperative, Iliyasu Kindiba said the cooperative is specialized in remanufacturing and supplying low cost and high quality toners and inks, cartridges, and printers. She further revealed that they provide Information Technology (IT) solutions for all models of computers, printers, and photocopiers, adding that they also offer scanning, faxing, laminating, binding, website, and internet services for the general public.
She noted that the cooperative now operates on 41 Percival Street in Freetown, with modern equipments and materials coming from the United Kingdom (UK).
One of the beneficiaries of the training, Zainab Kamara, expressed gratitude to Made in Sierra Leone Cooperative for what she described as support for unemployed youths in Sierra Leone. She called on Sierra Leoneans to go in for their products and give them a try, whilst further assuring the public of their guarantee in using Made in Sierra Leone Cooperative’s products.
Made in Sierra Leone cooperative is funded by The Messeh Partnership, The Youth Employment Network (YEN) UNIDO, Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and the UN’s International Labour Organization (ILO).
