Youth of Beccles Street in Freetown have Sunday 8th April 2012, vowed to clean the city of Freetown prior to the country’s independence celebration slated for 27th April.
The youths, who are part of the recently launched community based organization, Interact Development Organization (IDO), have assured the public that they will clean the city and also construct a public tap in their community prior to the celebration.

President of the IDO, Mr. Rahim Bah, revealed that his organization was formed on 14th February 2012, by youths of Beccles Street and Railway Line in Freetown. According to him, these were unemployed youths who use the engage themselves in baseless discussions in some street corners. He said these youths have transformed themselves and decided to contribute to national development.
IDO, the President went on, is not a political organization but a group of community youths that stands ready to develop their community and the country as a whole.
During the launching ceremony of the organization this past Sunday, a community elder, Professor Sulaiman Gerald Kaikai, who lectures Mathematics at the Fourah Bay College University of Sierra Leone, called on the youths to operate in line with their aims and objectives, whilst further noting that for them to succeed, the virtues of humility, hard work, determination and focus should be their watch word. Prof Kaikai used the forum to further called on the youths to be humble, determined, hardworking and always have a focus mind in whatever they are doing. This he said will help them achieve their set goals, whilst admonishing them to refrain from politics.
