SLPP Stalwarts Mourn with Former SLPP Leader & President

The Late Mohamed Kabbah who passed away yesterday morning
SLPP members from all walks of life, yesterday April 30th 2012 stormed the residence of their former party leader and President, Tejan Kabbah, to console him on the sudden death of his eldest son, Mohamed Kabbah.

He died yesterday morning following brief illness which hospitalised him last weekend.

Various sectors of the country’s main opposition party from the current SLPP leader, John Oponjo Benjamin down to ordinary members, all trooped up to Juba Hills residence of the former president to be by his side as soon as the news broke.

The old man was putting on a brave face and attributing it to the will of Allah but he was clearly emotionally affected to lose another son so soon after he lost his youngest son, some two years ago.

Mohamed Kabbah was unassuming, courteous to even the least of mortals and was very humble by nature. It is well known that at the height of his father’s presidency, Mohamed did not allow trappings of power to make him arrogant.

He was married with kids.

He will be buried this afternoon in Freetown. His body will be laid at his father’s Juba Hill residence this morning before prayers at a Freetown Mosque  and finally internment of his remains.
