Bo, June 7 (SLENA): At an extra-ordinary meeting, the Board of Governors of Commercial Secondary School in Bo has terminated the services of eleven teachers of the said school, SLENA reports.
The eleven, who have been shown the exit door for repeated professional misconduct, include the vice principal, Edward Andrew Saihun Allieu.
Their termination which took effect from 5th June 2012 also included Sheku Kawa, Alfred T. Bull, Emmanuel Kamanda and Sao Johnny.
According to the board, the eleven teachers were found guilty of ‘irregular and illegal’ admission of 87 pupils into SS1 classes during the current academic year.
The other affected teachers are Saidu Marah, Alfred Jobboh, Rosetta P. George, Rev. Fayiah and Richard Carew.
The seven-man committee set up by the board to investigate the sacked teachers discovered that the total sum of Le 14, 620,000 (fourteen million six hundred and twenty-thousand leones) was illegally collected from 87 pupils by the terminated teachers.
The board however recommended that the 87 pupils whose aggregate of 35 were illegal be accepted in the school but must pay back their school fees to the school’s bursar which they said was the correct procedure.
Speaking to SLENA following the expulsion order, the vice principal, Mr. Allieu denied any wrong doing and that he had paid the fees of three pupils he was accused of embezzling.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Director of Education, Mr. Swaray is yet to address the pupils and the CTA on current development in the school.
