Yesterday, I was pleasantly moved to read the lead story inside Awareness Times reporting on the commissioning of a brand new bus service to Port Loko town. Since days of late S.I. Koroma, this is the first time Port Loko is getting a dedicated bus service to the district. For this, I join youths and women of Port Loko to say kudos to this APC regime.
There is an additional pleasantry to the report because a place like Segbwema, hometown of the Opposition Leader John Benjamin, which is an opposition stronghold, started to enjoy their own bus service to that opposition town, some two months ago; before the ruling party stronghold of Port Loko which is only now getting their own bus service.
Segbwema, being much farther from the city and with more pressing needs for bus services, got to enjoy Bus services before Port Loko even though Segbwema casted the highest number of ZERO votes for APC in 2007 presidential elections. Is that not brave leadership? It is!
When a health survey revealed Kailahun has dire need of proper health care for its young children, this Koroma Government ensured Kailahun district was included amongst only three districts to benefit from brand new Paediatric Specialized Hospitals. Meanwhile, an ongoing pilot free health care for malaria patients includes Kailahun district because of what President Koroma stated to be his recognition of the level of poverty and suffering in the district.
Indeed, President Koroma’s regime is not partisan when it comes to distributing social services. Whilst one may fault him in other areas, this is something he just has to be credited with. Tribes and Regions do not count when ‘national cake’ is shared by Koroma.
Everyone gets a share. In that respect, Koroma has been a true national leader. Ensuring bus services to the needy residents of Segbwema in Kailahun even before Port Loko gets a bus, truly speaks volumes!!
