Sorious Samura has confessed in court today in Freetown that the man shown in the AL JAZEERA documentary as a so-called "Environmentalist" and/or Community Leader was the elder brother of his wife, Mariama.
However, Sorious told the court that he did not know the man was his wife's brother at the time he presented him to the world as a so-called environmentalist.
"Yes, Abdul Sinah is my brother-in-law; my wife's elder brother but I did not know he was her brother at the time I was doing the interview with him. All I knew was that he is an environmentalist" Mr. Samura stated as the spectators in the court room roared with laughter at his explanation.
Earlier, Samura arrived in court heavily guarded with armed OSD police officers and when he finished his testimony, he was whisked away in an unmarked jeep under heavy police escort to an unknown location.
He should appear in court on Monday for cross-examination by lawyers for Momoh Konte. Today's episode was marked with interesting high points. More later.
It is worthy to note that last November, during a live radio exchange between himself and Publisher Sylvia Blyden, Sorious Samura had told listeners in Freetown that his wife was not related to the man in the documentary called Abdul Sinah.
Samura had lambasted Sylvia Blyden as an "ojukokoro journalist" for bringing out the allegation of his familial relationship with Sinah; he had termed the allegations as false to the extent of saying the woman he married was of the 'Bundu' family and not the 'Sinah' family. Today, he has accepted that Blyden was correct all along. The man in the documentary is the blood brother of his wife Mariama.
