The former Students Leader, Eastern Region of the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP), Mr. Sidie Kajue has yesterday visited the Awareness Times offices from Kenema to thank the newspaper for what he said were our “excellent efforts” at standing up to the negative tribal tactics which his former party was deploying into the nation’s politics.According to Kajue, more and more Sierra Leoneans should come on board to warn the SLPP and their media propagandists to stop the tribalism and “fooling of the Mende people”.
Sidie Kajue who defected from SLPP to join the APC some two years ago, said the SLPP was a party lacking all possible conscience.
“Those people have no conscience. They only care about themselves. I know them very very well. They use people and when they get what they want, they will just dump you. They are also ungrateful,” Sidie Kajue said.

“Today, they want power and so they are fooling my Mende people that the APC is a party which does not like the Mendes. That is utter rubbish. I have joined the APC for two years now and I can tell you all my people not to listen to those failures in the SLPP. They just want to fool our tribe to vote for them so that is why all the lies. Look at Foreign Minister J.B. Dauda and Internal Affairs Minister Musa Tarawally and Transport Minister Vandi Minah and Labour Minister Hindolo Trye for example. These are all very senior Cabinet Ministers inside APC party. Are they not Mendes? What about William Juana Smith and Moijue Kaikai? Are they not Mendes inside APC? What about Steven Ngaujah and Soccoh Kabia, are they not PMDC Mendes inside the Government?” Sidie Kajue posited.
“Just look at the lots and lots of Mendes holding powerful positions inside Sierra Leone today. The newly appointed Army Chief of Defence Staff Major General S.O. Williams is a Sherbro-Mende from Bonthe District here. It is this APC Government which has appointed him to head the Army. One of the most successful parastatals is Roads Authority headed by our Mende brother Munda Rogers. It is APC which appointed him. Please I want to appeal to my people not to be fooled by SLPP. The SLPP is just a sick party which wants to fool our Mende people. Do not fall for their lies.” Sidi Kajue appealed.
“I want to assure all Mendes not to fear APC as the APC is not a tribalistic party. Ernest Bai Koroma shares development according to needs and not by tribe that is why you will see him coming to South and East all the time to bring developments” Kajue assured.
Continuing his chat at our newspaper offices, the young man recounted of how a nationwide support group of the APC known as Friends of Ernest Koroma was made up of a 20 man executive of which 11 were Mendes.
“That should tell you that Mendes feel at home to support the President . Infact our support group is a part of APC National Executive steering committee. They involve us fully in everything the party does. I feel very much at home inside APC,” Sidie Kajue stated.
He condemned “nonsense talk” by George Khoryama that under President Koroma, South-Easterners are “second class citizens” and warned such SLPP supporters not to split the country because of their “selfish politics” to “our people who cannot read and write”.
“I am telling you these SLPP people are selfish. Just look at how they abandoned Hon. Robin Faley for one week in jail? A whole parliamentarian abandoned just like that? Unbelievable! Just like what they did to Chief Hinga Norman! That is SLPP for you. An ungrateful party which uses its Mende supporters but they are going to be very surprised these elections at the votes the President will get from the South and East despite all their lies. Many of our Mende people are no longer falling blindly for their lies but SLPP needs to stop,” Sidi Kajue said.
He spoke of how APC Ministers like the Information Minister Ibrahim Ben Kargbo felt so much at home with Mendes that his closest confidants, aides and personal assistants were all Mendes.
“Even his driver whom he trusts with his life is a Mende. he person who cooks for I.B. Kargbo is a Mende. Let’s move over to President Koroma. Many of his close aides are Mendes. His Protocol is from Mende land of Panguma.So where does this story come from that APC or the President does not like the Mendes? It is all rubbish by those users at the SLPP” Sidie Kajue asserted.
The young but rather powerful politician amongst his youth colleagues in the East said, “I am very proud to call myself a Friend of Ernest Bai Koroma because the good things this President has done for the country as a whole and the Mendes as a group, no other President has done to my own memory. I am very proud of him and I know many other Mendes are also proud of him and are going to vote for him massively in landslide victory come November 17th 2012”.
Sidie Kajue said President Koroma was expected in Kenema for the burial of the Mayor of Kenema City this week and he assured a warm family welcome awaits him “as always despite the SLPP hate messages” because “We know better than to fall for SLPP lies against the President”.
