One of Sierra Leone’s ‘Biggest, Best and Cheapest (BBC)’ Telecommunication companies, Africell Lintel Limited, on Friday 6th July 2012, paid the sum of Forty-Five Million Leones (Le45,000,000) cash to Africell subscribers who took part and won in the company’s just concluded ‘European Nations Cup 2012 Predict and Win Raffle Draw’. The payments took place at the company’s headquarters at Wilberforce in Freetown.
Twenty-nine subscribers were paid amounts ranging from one to ten million Leones respectively and from each winner’s money, the company deducted 10% Lottery Tax, as provided for in the Finance Act 2008, for further payment into Government’s revenue through the National Revenue Authority (NRA).

Addressing the winners, Africell’s Corporate Affairs Officer, Mr. Joe Abass Bangura, revealed that, Africell subscribers were asked to predict the results of the matches played at the just concluded Euro 2012 Football Tournament hosted in Ukraine and Poland. He said even though subscribers were billed 20 units of airtime for each prediction entry they made, Africell was also generously giving back to them 20 on-net units for each prediction.
Mr. Bangura cited that, during the daily draws, ten lucky subscribers won themselves 1,000 units of airtime each and the 11th winner taking home 1,000 units of airtime plus Le1,000,000 for every match played in the tournament.

According to Mr. Bangura, the cash prizes were later increased to Le2, 000,000 for the quarter final matches, Le5,000,000 for the Semi final matches and Le10,000,000 for the grand final match respectively. He said subscribers also won themselves a total of 319,000 units of airtime, worth over Le13, 000,000, adding that these units were delivered directly to their phones.
Africell, the Corporate Affairs Officer went on, has once again demonstrated its exemplary passion for the game of football, whilst making room for every other sporting discipline in the country. He used the forum to congratulate Leonesss Stars for the dramatic progress they have made in both the World and African football rankings, whilst looking forward to victory against Tunisia. Mr. Bangura further congratulated the winners and assured his company’s continued introduction of more innovative and creative promotions that will create fun and at the same time better the lives of its cherished subscribers.
