The presidential candidate of Sierra Leone’s main opposition party has joined millions of Sierra Leoneans at home and abroad to sympathise with His Excellency the President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma on the loss of the president’s dear mother, Mama Alice Rosaline Koroma last Friday July 6th 2012. Mr. Bio sent public condolence messages on behalf of himself and his followers. Writing on his Facebook wall when the news broke, Maada Bio stated, “My Fellow Sierra Leoneans, just heard that President Koroma has lost his mother and I would like all Sierra Leoneans remember him at this difficult time”.
Continuing, Maada Bio asked the President to “please accept our most heartfelt sympathies for your loss”. He ended his Facebook posting by saying, “Our thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time”.

The sentiments of Maada Bio re-echo the outpouring of grief from around the world which greeted the loss of the woman who was fondly nicknamed as “First Mother” and/or “Mother of the Nation” by those who interacted with her. She died peacefully in her sleep at the ripe old age of four score years (80 years). She had just turned 80 years of age just about a week before she passed away.
Some of those tributes are in today’s edition and we will continue to publish the tributes as they come in throughout this week. Awareness Times also joins to console the Koroma family and pray that the late woman’s soul will rest in perfect peace. Amen.
