Sierra Leone students across the world have expressed their heartfelt condolences to His Excellency Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, Chancellor of the University of Sierra Leone and his family for the death of their mother Mrs. Alice Rosaline Koroma, who died on Friday 6th July 2012 at her Sylvanus Street residence in Makeni Town.
The National Union of Sierra Leone Students (NUSS), in a press release issued on Wednesday 11th July 2012, mingled its sentiment with the Koroma family and the entire nation in mourning the death of Madam Koroma.
The students stated that as a teacher, she will always be remembered for her precious contributions in the lives of many students in Sierra Leone. They further noted that as a mother and grandmother, Madam Koroma was an embodiment of love, care, compassion, commitment and a sense of purpose. As she has departed this world for the great beyond, the students said it is their fervent supplication that perpetual light will continue to shine on her, whilst praying for her soul to rest in perfect peace.
In the same light, the executive members of the Students’ Union Government and the entire students populace of Fourah Bay College (FBC), University of Sierra Leone, have also expressed their deepest and heartfelt condolences to President Koroma and the entire Koroma family at home and abroad for the irreparable loss of their beloved mother.
The Union profoundly joined the people of Sierra Leone to mourn the demise of a steadfast and compassionate mother, grandmother, and former teacher who until her death, was committed to promoting gender issues, youth empowerment and the development of this nation.
According to the students, mother Alice, is sadly missed, especially for her support towards the sustainable growth and development of students’ unionism and more so; her contribution towards the ‘Alice Koroma’ Students Canteen situated at the female hostels on FBC campus. They called on President Koroma and the entire Koroma family to continue praying for the soul of mama Koroma to rest in perfect peace, whilst further calling on them to be courageous for the great loss.
