Sierra Leoneans at home and abroad have started questioning the authority of both the official mouthpiece of the main opposition Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP), Unity Newspaper and the SLPP official Publicity Secretary, Hon. Musa Tamba Sam, who also doubled as the SLPP Member of Parliament representing Constituency 03 in the Kissy Teng Chiefdom in the Kailahun District.
This concern was raised following pronouncement and counter pronouncement made by Hon. Tamba Sam and the Unity Newspaper over the outcome of the joint Yenga Declaration meeting held at State House on Friday 27th July 2012 in Freetown.
The declaration called on both the governments of Guinea and Sierra Leone to order their military forces to demilitarize Yenga. While Hon. Tamba Sam described the declaration as a very concrete and formidable arrangement in finding a lasting solution to the problem and the “greatest thing that has ever happened in the strides to regain Yenga, the Unity Newspaper of the same party in its Monday 30th July 2012 publication referred to it as “so-call and bogus”, whilst further doubting the “possibilities for Yenga to be free before November 17”. With this kind of statement and counter statement, Sierra Leoneans want to know the official position of the party.
One senior citizen said if the main opposition party can not speak with one voice, what will happen if they are elected into office.
