On July 6th this year, I had cause to do up a front page article I entitled as "Mr. Maada Bio Trusts Dr. Christiana Thorpe, Period!".
In that article, I made my observations that according to his media handlers, Opposition SLPP presidential candidate Maada Bio was not happy with the stance of his party leader towards Dr. Christiana Thorpe, Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (NEC).
At the time, it was clear SLPP Leader was saying something supposedly on behalf of the party, against an increase in the salary of the NEC Boss and thus casting doubt on the impartiality of the NEC Boss.
However, Bio, in a forceful rejection of the opposition leader's comments, spoke to the second highest body of the SLPP about “the confidence we have in Madam Christiana Thorpe and her Commissioners” to provide what he termed as “an election that is free, fair transparent & credible; that no political party will hesitate to accept”. He affirmed that “We trust that the National Electoral Commission can deliver such an election”.
I had opined of some 500 other elections to be held at same time as Presidential elections this year and wondered aloud as to who cares about them. I spoke of how 112 Parliamentary and 394 Local Council positions seem not to be on the minds of the Maada Bio handlers.
I wrote back then, that Bio and his media handlers were only concerned about Bio winning the presidency and "All the rest can go to blazes!! Who cares about their opinions? That is the thinking in Maada Bio campaign team".
"What a thinking indeed!" I had written.
Today, I reiterate again, what a thinking!
