The Independent Media Commission (IMC) has on Thursday 9th August 2012 commended the Publisher and staff of the Awareness Times Newspaper for their professionalism in news reporting.
According to the IMC , Awareness Times stands tall in terms of operating within the media code of practice and also with regard timely honouring of all debts at the Commission.

The three man delegation headed by the Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Rod Mac-Johnson, Commissioner Mohamed Mustapha Samoura and the Public Relations Officer, Mr. Pat Lewis, visited our 17 Garrison Street Office to further familiarize themselves with functioning media houses across the country and to give accolade to those who are working in accordance to the Commission’s code of practice The team was received by the Acting Editor, Aruna Turay on behalf the Editor Mr. Abu Shaw and the Publisher Dr. Sylvia Olayinka Blyden who are currently out of the country on special assignments.
Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Rod Mac-Johnson congratulated Awareness Times for keeping to the ethics of the profession and for promptly honouring its financial obligations with the Commission. He encouraged the Publisher and staff to “keep the flame burning and continue to stand tall among other media houses in the country.”
He also used the forum to call on the newspaper to continue to be apolitical and not to allow itself to be driven into politics.
