| His Excellency Michael Owen is a ‘Paramount Chief’ of Sierra Leone’s Masimera Chiefdom in Port Loko. |
The American Ambassador to Sierra Leone, His Excellency Michael Owen was on Wednesday 22nd August 2012 crowned Honorary Paramount Chief of Masimera Chiefdom in the Port Loko district.
The crowning ceremony took place at the Saint Anthony of Padua in Masimera Town.
The Ambassador was accompanied by Sierra Leone’s Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Hon. Raymond Kabia.
The Deputy Minister told the people of Masimera that the crowing of Ambassador Owen was in recognition of his good work in Sierra Leone, especially to the Masimera Chiefdom.
In his response, Ambassador Michael Owen expressed delight over the honour bestowed on him by the people of Masimera.
He assured his audience that he will ever remain to remember this important event and will continue to represent his government and people of the United State as expected from him.
Also thanking the people of Masimera was the wife of Ambassador Owen, Mrs. Owen. She also expressed thanks and appreciation for the honour and further encouraged the women of Masimera to be steadfast and contribute to the development of the country alongside their men folk.
Mrs. Owen further advised the women to respect their husbands and impart good morals in their children.
The ceremony was climaxed with a conducted tour of a 150 hectare of farm rice at Masimera village.
During the tour, Hon. Raymond Kabia informed the Ambassador that the farm has provided employment for hundreds of youths in that part of the country.
