Freetown, October (SLENA) – The Officer Commanding (OC), Calaba Town Police Station, O.C. Morison has assured the people of Calaba Town, Wellington and Allen Town of effective policing, but with their active support.
O.C. Morrison gave this assurance last week whilst addressing a cross section of residents of the three settlements when they called on him at his Calaba Town office to discuss issues of security.
Speaking on the issue, the Chairman of the area Police Partnership Committee, Mr. David Yambusu suggested that the police stations at Wellington, Calaba Town and Allen Town should be brought under one division as these three areas have expanded with large population.
“We want these police stations to have a new division of their own rather than remain under the command of the Kissy Division,” he reiterated, and called for logistics such as transport, motor bikes and quarters for the police in these divisions in order to help them do their work effectively.
Mr. Yambusu also agreed with residents of these three areas to meet with the Assistant Inspector General of Police, East, Alfred Karrow Kamara, and discuss the issue of zoning the area.
The three and half hour meeting ended with an agreement to transform residents of these townships into watchdogs so that they can serve as their own watch men.
