The Ministry of Finance and Economic Development (MOFED) will today 11th February 2016, sign contracts for work to commence on both the Bandajuma - Liberia Highway as well as the bridges along that route. This is according to a press release from MOFED.

MOFED informs that the procurement process has been successfully concluded with the award of the contracts to a Joint Venture of Mis Compagnie Sahelienne D’Entreprises (CSE) & Matiere, SAS.

The signing of the Contract will see the endorsement of same by the European Union which is the major funding agency for the project.

MOFED stated that the Framework of Development Cooperation between the Government of Sierra Leone and the European Union dates back to the 1970s with the accession of Sierra Leone to the first Lome Convention and culminating in the current Cotonou Partnership Agreement which runs until 2020.

It also said that cooperation has over the years facilitated the development strides of the Government of Sierra Leone to the extent that the EU is now the lead Partner in Sierra Leone’s Infrastructure Sector.
