The Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority has on Tuesday 23rd February, 2016 commissioned a newly installed transformer in Grassfield Community, East of Freetown.
One of the electrical engineers of EDSA, Mr. Foday Kamara, in commissioning the transformer said they decided to install another transformer because the previous transformer has been overloaded. He said that the installation is a compliment of the President’s Agenda for Prosperity, which aimed at electrifying the entire country.
He further explained that Grassfield and Clay Factory communities have been without electricity for more than two weeks. Mr. Kamara said that the electricity disruption had caused serious challenges for inhabitants in those communities who rely on electricity generation for their daily livelihood. He said EDSA seriously regret the discomfort it caused its customers, that was why they took all the necessary actions to provide again electricity for the communities.
He added that they have done their own part by giving them what they needed as community, but they have a responsibility to take good care of the transformer. He urged them to call at EDSA sub office at Black Hall Road if they experience any electrical problem in their community. He advises them not to touch any part of the transformer as they are not expert on electricity.
The chairman of the Grass Field Community, Mr. Abdul Kindo Mansaray unbehalf of the community stakeholders thanks EDSA for responding to their immediate request. He said they were facing very big problems in that community as a result of power cut. He said they appreciate the effort of EDSA so much as this will help them raise money through doing some little businesses like selling cold water for their daily livelihood.
Women representative in the community, Madam Posah Sesay unbehalf of the community women thanked the EDSA management for giving them electricity supply. “Light is part of our life” she maintained.
