The Parliament of Sierra Leone has on the 01st March, 2016 ratified the “Third Report” of the Committee on Appointments and the Public Service, chaired by Hon. Ibrahim Bundu. These eminent and qualified Sierra Leoneans were carefully chosen by President Ernest Bai Koroma to serve in the Teaching Service Commission, SALWACO, Audit Service Board, and the Sierra Leone Maritime Administration.
The following Presidential Nominees were approved through a collection of voices: Mrs. Elfrida Scott-Member, Sierra Leone Teaching Service Commission; Mr. Mani Koroma-Board Member, SALWACO; Ms. Macella Belinda Jones-Member, Audit Service Board and Mr. Osman Manasu-Conteh-Board Member, Sierra Leone Maritime Administration.
Prior to the ratification of the nominees, MPs from both sides of the aisle during the course of the debate praised President Koroma for his deliberate and careful selection of nominees who had done well in their various walks of life; challenged them to do more and succeed in their new appointments; appealed for the provision of water particularly for residents in the East End of Freetown; and also appealed for a harmonized conditions of service for the teachers in Sierra Leone to enhance their performance and delivery in the teaching sector.
Both the Majority and the Acting Minority Leaders of the House, Hon. Ibrahim Bundu and Hon. Ansumana Kaikai respectively commended MPs for their brilliant contributions, before calling on Parliament to immediately ratify the Presidential Nominees.
The nominees were approved by the House, and the Rt. Hon. Speaker, SBB Dumbuya whilst congratulating them said he had no scintilla of doubt in President Koroma’s nominees, and that teachers are known for their versatility, referencing his career progression from Ambassador to Speaker of the House of Parliament.
