Magistrate Abu Bakarr Binneh Kamara of Freetown Magistrate Court No. 1 has on Monday 7th March, 2016 ordered immediate deportation of Pakistani national, Zulfiqar Ali Bhatti, who was arrested at the Freetown International Airport, Lungi with forged visa to gain illegal entry into Republic of Sierra Leone.
The accused, after his arrest at the airport was later charged to court on two counts of illegal entry and Using a forged visa, both contrary to the Non Citizen Registration Immigration and Expulsion Act of 1965.
The Particulars of offence in count 1 states, the accused person, Zulfiqar Ali Bhatti on Thursday 28th January, 2016 entered Sierra Leone without valid travelling certificates.
Count 2 states, the accused person on the same date without lawful authority uses a forged document on which the Sierra Leone Immigration Department landing visa has been forged.
The Pakistani pleaded guilty to both charges following his incarceration at the Male prisons along Pademba Road.
On his subsequent appearance in court, defense counsel, Lawyer I.P. Mamie who represented the Pakistani, Zulfiqar Ali Bhatti, publicly apologized on behalf of his client and beseeched the Bench to temper justice with mercy as he had already learnt his lesson in prison.
However, the presiding magistrate who stated severally that he was highly determined to enforce the country’s anti terrorism laws, said he has decided that it was only by instituting stringent measures that will be geared towards eradicating such diabolical moves where foreigners can fake visa entry stamps and attempt to sneak into Sierra Leone. Magistrate Binneh Kamara thus ordered the immediate deportation of the accused Pakistani.
