One Joseph Kargbo on Saturday January 14th 2017, was arrested along Aberdeen Beach Road in Freetown with six (6) wraps of cocaine, a prohibited drugs without lawful authority.
The accused was charged to count with two counts charge of dealing in prohibited drugs to wit cocaine Contrary to Section 7(a) of the National Drugs Control Act 2008 and Unlawful Possession of Prohibited Drugs contrary to Section 8(a) of the National Drugs Control Act 2008.
The prosecutor witness, Detective Police Constable 9874, Memunatu M. Turay who is currently attached to the Transnational Organized Crime Units at Murry Town in Freetown, on Friday February 10, 2017 testified before Magistrate Dr. Abu Bakarr Binneh Kamara at the Freetown Principal Magistrate Court No.1, Siaka Steven Street, in Freetown. Detective Police Constable 9874 Memunatu M. Turay disclosed that on Sunday 19th January 2017 she was on duty at the Transnational Organized Crime Units, when her boss handed over the matter to her for further investigation with six (6) wraps of white substance suspected to be cocaine.She went on to say that she obtained statement from the accused. She added that, that same day she left the office together with the accused, the crime officer, the arresting officer and the Forensic Analyst for forensic test at the Connaught Hospital in Freetown. She added that the test was conducted and the result proved that the white substance that was arrested with the accused person was cocaine.Detective Police Constable 9874 Memunatu M. Turay went further that on Monday 23rd January 2017, she charged the accused person to court and detective police constable 11591 Mansaray A. assisted her. The accused person is currently on bail, Magistrate Dr. Abu Bakarr Binneh Kamara adjourned the case to Thursday February 23th 2017, for continuation.
