Many schools of thoughts have it that Tambakha Chiefdom, a Susu dominated Chiefdom in Bombali district, Northern Sierra Leone is SLPP because it is the home town of the mother of one of the leading flagbearer contender in the SLPP, Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella, Haja Binta Kamara. However, by the new development on ground in the country including the addition of 20 new constituencies across the country of which Tambakha is now a beneficiary. This development happened in the reigns of the astute leadership of HE Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma APC led government.
In a recently concluded meeting in Tambakha Chiefdom that gathered all stakeholders in the Chiefdom, they concluded that Ibrahim Kamara whom they dubbed as ‘Son of the Soil’ should be their next Member of Parliament under the All Peoples Congress ticket. Pa Kolia Kamara on a telephone interview with this press maintained that “We are ready to give this new constituency to the APC if only they give their symbol to Ibrahim Kamara who has done so much in improving on the socio-economic wellbeing of the people of this chiefdom” The APC chairlady in Tambakha Chiefdom, Madam Mabinty Sumah admonished this press on what Ibrahim Kamara has done in the chiefdom which includes but not limited; providing agricultural support to farmers across the chiefdom, scholarships to pupils and other social supports. She maintained that “The contributions of Mr. Ibrahim Kamara to Tambakha is in comparable to any indigenes of this chiefdom”
However, Tambakha is arguably one of the most deprived chiefdoms in Sierra Leone. The people of Tambakha also disclosed that they have never got a Member Parliament, no Minister or Deputy neither Senior government official. Tambakha has 42 primary and 3 secondary schools. Interestingly, only two primary schools are government assisted no government assisted secondary school in the entire chiefdom coupled with poor road network,2 Community Health Posts and one Peripheral Health Unit. there is no communication pole in the entire chiefdom.“If you want to make a phone call from Tambakha, you need to travel four to five miles” Abdula Kamara, a bike rider in Tambakha said.
