On Friday 11th February 2017, three people one male, a female and a nine year old girl were accused of bewitching the daughter of one Fatu Mansaray of No 5 Wharf Road, Cline Town, Freetown.
According to Fatu they live in the same compound with the accused persons whom she had been suspecting of wanting to kill her daughter.
She furthered that her daughter who was well and healthy suddenly felt ill after two of the accused persons took the child from her to loll her. Later she said when the child was returned to her, she noticed that her daughter was not active again as she was and was just crying. She later bathe the child and tried to feed her but continued to be restless and could not even eat or sleep. She called both accused and asked them what they have done to her child that is making her restless, both said they not do anything to her and that she was alright when they returned her.
It was at this point that the nine year old girl interrupted their discussion and said it is her mother the female accuse that had made the child to be sick.
Fatu the mother of the child wasted no time and called other tenants within the same compound to witness what the nine year old girl is saying. However when the witnesses came the mother of the nine year old girl stopped her from saying anything and took her away.
This resulted into serious quarrel between the accused and Fatu the mother of the sick child who told witnesses what the nine year old girl had said. As the quarrel continued the Landlord immediately went to the headman and reported the matter. The headman then invited the entire suspects to his barray for further investigation. After hearing from all the three suspects the headman then decided to call the president of the traditional healers Doctor Sulaiman Kabba to prove the allegation.
Upon arrival at the barray Doctor Sulaiman Kabba advised the suspects to clearly and honestly speak the truth before he embarked on his traditional investigation. He gave them three days to come up with the truth as he will be treating the child for the time being and by Tuesday 14th February 2017 they should all meet at the barray to prove their innocent or guilty.
