As part of their efforts to help the needy, the Sierra Leone Lebanese Community on Wednesday 15th February 2017, donated a range of assorted food items to the Milton Margai School for the Blind.

The Sierra Leone Lebanese Community delegation which was led by the president Samir Hassanyeh, made a swift visit to the school for the Blind at their Wilkinson Road compound, where they made the much needed donation as a way of giving hope to their existence.

The food items donated ranged from one hundred and fifty bags of rice, ten bags of onions, five set  five gallon vegetable oil and five bags of Irish potatoes. The assistance as stated was not requested for but came from the Lebanese Community’s goodwill gesture to help the needy especially the physically challenged.

Prior to donating the items, the President of the Lebanese Community, Samir Hassanyeh, said that as a people, they always sympathize with the suffering class. “The difficult aspect of that class is the disabled, who are really challenged by natural forces. This is a token of what we are able to offer. We hope that you will use the donated items for the intended purposes,” he said.

Receiving the items, the Head Teacher of the Milton Margai School for the Blind, SallieuTuray, said that they were happy to receive their visitors. “This is your school. Whilst we thank you immensely for this surprise support of food items, we are pleading with you and other goodwill ambassadors to consider the fact that we also lack proper housing, music instruments and other equally important things. You will do a great justice if you think about giving a helping hand in this direction,” he appealed, assuring the donators that the items will be used for the intended purposes.

The donation is one among numerous supports the Lebanese Community has offered to the Milton Margai School for the Blind.
