Hundreds of youths from across Kambia District have identified themselves with their colleagues in Koinadugu and Bombali districts to express their admiration for the leadership style of Dr. Kaifala Marah and have unequivocally expressed their unflinching support for him being anointed by the incumbent Leader and Chairman of the ruling APC party and the party’s higher echelon to succeed current President, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma.
Like the youths demonstrated in Kabala and in Makeni in recent times, the youths of Kambia districton Saturday, 25th February 2018, also called on the Current Governor of the Bank of Sierra Leone to run for the flagbearer ticket of the APC party for the upcoming Presidential election slated for 7th March 2018. Throughout Saturday morning, the elated youths ensured every major thoroughfare in Kambia Town including the main auto route to neighboring Republic of Guinea, felt the name of Dr. Kaifala Marah.

The youths, of all sexes and all ages within the constitutional age bracket that gives right to franchise jogged, danced and sang songs of Dr. Marah’s demonstrated leadership, forthrightness, his fiscal and monetary discipline, his broad knowledge of the politics of economies, locally, regionally and internationally, and his prudent handling of the country’s economy during the worse moment the country has experienced since the end of the rebel war in 2000.
Clad mostly in the RED APC party colours, some of them noted with alacrity that the 2018 Presidential election would be fought on several fronts, but that principal among these would be the demonstrative ability of a Presidential candidate to reposition Sierra Leone’s economy such that food can be available on the table of every family living within the confines of Sierra Leone.
According to Musa Suma, President of Dr. Kaifala Marah for Development Organization in Kambia Town, one of the organizers of the rally, they as youth s would want the APC party to anoint Dr. Marah because of his youthfulness which they can relate and associate with and can run as fast as the present times demands, rather than having “an old, tired individual with ideas that are mundane and archaic and that would slow down the current pace of speedy socio-economic development set in place by the current President.”
AminataKebbay, Chairlady of Queens of Dr. Kaifala Marah in Kukuna Town said they are supporting Dr. Marah because firstly, “he is a Sierra Leonean; Secondly, he is a performer, who talks less.” She maintains that over the years they have observed that as young people, “older politicians have lied too much to us, with fake promises and building feather-weighted castles for us in the air with never-to-be-seen promises.” In her view, “what we have heard and seen as far as Dr. Kaifala Marah is concerned is unprecedented in the game of politics in this country.
Whatever he has said so far as Minister of Finance and Economic Development we have seen; and what he recently said at the Bank of Sierra Leone Governor’s Dinner he will do. These are policy initiatives that have direct impact on we the people,” Mrs. Kebbay maintained.
Dr. Kaifala Marah has until last Saturday not openly made any formal declaration as to his intention to run for the flagbearer ticket of the ruling APC, but Sierra Leoneans from all works of life are quietly urging him to come in the open and make his intention public, based on popular public request. For the youths, however, they are not making their call in secret.
They are doing it in the open as a show of “our genuine trust and confidence in Dr. Kaifala Marah as someone we can bestow our renewed hope in after President Ernest Bai Koroma,” Foday Koroma, Chairman, Queens of Dr. Kaifala Marah in Makeni stated.
With this apparent current wave of populism of Dr. Kaifala Marah across the country and amongst the yet silent rank and file of the APC party, observers say they are looking forward to the day, the man himself comes out to answer to this clarion call from his compatriots. But in the meantime, the tidal wave of Dr. Marah’s popularity will continue to grip major towns and cities across Sierra Leone.
