Magistrate Dr. Abu Bakarr Binneh Kamara of the Freetown Magistrate Court No.1 at Siaka Stevens Street in Freetown has committed the case of an alleged rape to the high court of Freetown that police accused twenty-one-year-old Ahmed Issa Sesay that he raped or forcefully had sex with a thirty-six-year-old woman (name withheld).
The prosecution witness Detective Police Constable 10789 Francis Augustine Sahr Folleh who is attached to the Family Support Units, Grafton police station said in court that on Sunday 1st January 2017, he was on duty when the complainant, the thirty-six years old woman arrested and brought in the accused person to the station and reported that the accused person raped him. He went on to say that he issued medical request form to the alleged victim for examination and treatment at the Cottage Rainbow Center in the East End of Freetown.
He added that the alleged victim, the thirty-six-year-old woman returned the endorsed medical form at the station. He went on that on Monday 2nd January 2017 to Saturday 6th January 2017 together with other detective police officers, they interviewed the accused person. He added that they recorded down the accused statement in English which he admitted to be true and correct. He went further that on Thursday January 19th 2017, they charged the accused with the offense of rape.
Magistrate Dr.Abu Bakarr Binneh Kamara commits the case to the high court and the accused person was remanded in custody at the Pademba Road Male Correctional Center in Freetown.
