Deputy Publicity Secretary II of the ruling All Peoples Congress (APC) Party, who also doubles as the Chairman Board of Directors of the Sierra Leone Water Company (SALWACO), Hon Robin Faley has been widely acclaimed by indigenes of Segbwema, Kailahun district for improving the standards of education for school going children in that part of the country.
“Faley's influence in promoting discipline in the schools by motivating and inspiring teachers, pupils and parents has started to pay huge dividend,” said Rugiatu Musa in Segbwema.
She added that Hon. Faley’s intervention in the schools has yielded a positive impact in the lives of school going children. She went further that last year the Holy Ghost Secondary school got the best BECE result in the entire country and a good number of WASSCE pupils got University requirement. She disclosed that for the past years pupils were finding it extremely difficult to have University requirement and as a result of that a good number of pupils usually travel to Freetown to sit their WASSCE exams.
“Hon Faley is a role model to the Pupils and the teachers which has helped greatly in instilling discipline in the schools.
Mr. Amara Bockarie a teacher of the Njaluahun Methodist Secondary School in Segbwema, he described Hon. Faley as a transformational leader who has greatly influence attracting trained and qualified teachers in the Kailahun district. He continued that Hon Faley also provided professional directives to heads of schools especially in utilizing the school fees that are paid into the school account. He disclosed that as a result of that the school that he teaches has constructed three class rooms within a year.
Miss Isata Allieu of Holy Ghost secondary school said that Hon Faley is a huge blessing to the entire Segbwema town and Kailahun district in general.
Speaking with Hon Faley, he expressed grave concern over the attitude of some heads of schools, Board of schools and school supervisors in addressing the challenges of improving the standards of education in that part of the country. He added that transforming education in the country needs some radical leadership across the board. He furthered that the government have reasonable done well but a lot needs to be done to effectively manage the recruitments, management and retention of teachers to perform well at school.
The outspoken politician, however lambasted the Directorates of the school.
He ended by commending the Government for approving about two hundred trained teachers in Kailahun District.
