Minister of Lands, Country Planning and the Environment, Honourable Finda Diana Konomayni has reacted to fcountryalse accusations raised against her ministry on social media aiming at destroying her hard -earned reputations in the .

The report claims that that the Minister of Lands, Country Planning and the Environment, Honourable Diana Finda Konomayni is intruding, interloping and disrupting the activities and the mandate of the National Tourist Board.

Meanwhile, when asked for his own side, the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Lands Country Planning and the Environment, Alfred Kabia stated that the report against the Lands Minister is "a complete miscalculation, unfortunate, unfounded and misguided attempt to tarnish the reputation of  Honourable Diana Finda Konomayni."  He added that the writer did not contact their Ministry before writing the report. He further went on to say that they take great exception to any information aiming at destroying the good working relationship that exists between the two ministries.

Responding to the unfounded allegations, the Hon. Minister of Lands Country Planning and the Environment, Hon. Diana Finda Konomayni said her Ministry has the responsibility to survey, plan and also protect the environment.

Speaking about the structure that was demolished, the Minister stated that several warnings have been given to the owner of the structure but such warnings fell on deaf ears as the owners failed to adhere to any of them. The structure that was being constructed did not have a building permit from the Ministry of Work, Housing and Infrastructure. She said, the building was an encroachment into the SLRA right of way thereby blocking the proposed footpath for pedestrians to the Hilton Hotel, Lagoonda Bar Restaurant, Casino and other areas. She said they were also putting up a permanent structure along with a retaining wall on the sandy beach (which is against government policy to have a permanent structure on the sandy part of the beach). "The encroachment into the SLRA right of way would have been problem-some when the rehabilitation of that stretch of road commences," the Minister said. She disclosed that the demolition exercise was genuinely done by the Ministry's Enforcement Unit supervised by senior members of staff of her ministry after the several warnings and invitations given to owners of the said structures fell on deaf ears.

She added that the activity of proper planning falls within the duties of the Lands Ministry, so it is not usurping of function of the Ministry of Tourism by the Hon. Minister of Lands Country Planning and the Environment, Madam Diana Konomanyi as the report wrongfully claimed.

Madame Konomanyi concluded that the Lands Ministry is a strong partner to touristic development in Sierra Leone so it will never destabilize the functions of the Tourism Ministry.
