The ruling All Peoples Congress (APC) Majority Leader of Sierra Leone House of Parliament, Honourable Ibrahim Bundu has assured that the APC would not experience conflict in the coming 2018 Presidential election.
Hon. Ibrahim Bundu made this statement on Friday 10th March 2017, during a radio interview on one of our local radio stations here in Freetown, as he was reacting to his removal as Chairman of the APC in the northern provincial district of Port Loko.

Whilst assuring, Hon. Bundu, who had earlier declared to contest for the APC 2018 Presidential ticket, said the APC Party is his own party, and that the decision of its hierarchy to remove him as Port Loko District Chairman for the APC is because the party don’t want him to use his office as an advantage against other party members who are vying for the same 2018 presidential ticket. Therefore, he said, he totally agrees with the decision of the APC.
Hon. Bundu further added that he is not a selfish person, and that his first prayer is to see the current President, His Excellency Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, whose final term ends early next year, hands over to another APC member.
Meanwhile, the statements for Hon. Ibrahim Bundu was a reaction to the press release issued by the National Advisory Council (NAC) of the APC in which it was stated that Hon. Ibrahim Bundu and Ambassador Alimamy Philip Koroma were removed as APC chairmen of Port Loko and Kambia districts respectively. The release furthered “all constituencies in a district are under the management of the district chairmen. This responsibility includes but not limited to presiding over all district meetings and organising elections and the choice of delegates for participation in all conventions including the national delegate’s conference. The principle of conflict of interest precludes such chairmen from declaring for the APC flagbearer position and remaining to hold on to the strategic position of district chairman.” Against the backdrop of the press release, Hon. Bundu said he was never informed that he had broken any law of the APC Party. However, he said, since the National Secretary General of the APC, Ambassador Osman Foday Yansaneh has said that he has broken the rules of the party, then he is ready to apologise. He assured that APC will not experience any conflict come 2018 elections.
