Wife of former President of Sierra Leone, Alhaji Dr. Ahmed Tejan Kabbah (Blessed memory), Mrs. Isata Jabbie Kabbah commonly called IJ Kabbah who was the former Woman’s Leader of the main Opposition Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP), has predicted how the SLPP is set to lose the 2018 Presidential race to State House.

Mrs. IJ Kabbah made the statement in a telephone interview with Awareness Times Newspaper on Tuesday 14th March, 2017. The reason she said is the noncompliance of the Peace Communique party stakeholders signed back in February this year.

Mrs. Isata Jabbie Kabbah

Whilst responding to questions posed to her, Mrs. Kabbah noted that certain party members have plan reneged the communique they signed and she has frankly told them that if renege on the communique, she will take the back seat. “I am yet to decide where to go, I will decide when I got to that but for now I am still SLPP but I have taken the back seat. That is why I have deleted myself from all SLPP forums on Social Media” IJ Kabbah said. She then added that with the continuing infightings within the SLPP, the party is losing the 2018 Presidential election.

When asked on the last Saturday SLPP NEC meeting, Madam IJ said she was not in town, she was in Port Loko attending to other functions and again she was not invited but learnt that they have resolved go by the Court decision not to rerun the 39 constituencies.

“I felt bad upon hearing such news. I feel for the party because we have been ion to problems since 2013 with confrontation and for us to come together as a party as that is the only option. We have all agreed to pursue peace but few individuals decided to go against the communique. This is a clear manifestation that they don’t want peace. I believe if we all come together with peace and unity, we will win 2018 elections” IJ Noted.

On the appointment of Jacob Jusu Saffa as the registration coordinator, Madam Kabbah said it is their decision “But to my view, I don’t think is a right decision because to take part into a registration process is not a one-man business. There should be a committee because the exercise is a nation-wide process” She opined. She continued that they should have decentralize the process from district, region and then national coordinator respectively.

When asked if she intend joining the All Peoples Congress (APC)Party, Mrs. Isata Jabbie Kabbah burst into dying laughter but denied of having any intention now. She frankly stated that she is still a member of the SLPP and will not join the APC. “When the time comes and if necessary, I will join a coalition. “No boh, even if I am annoyed with my party, I will not join the APC but I will find a formidable coalition. That is the trend in Africa now, look at Buhariin Nigeria, he doesn’t win that election by himself, the PDP was formed by Obasanjo, he leaves the PDP and join Buhari and they won. In Ghana Nana Kufuor Ado won with a Coalition and quite recently in Banjul, with all the military might of President Jammer, when a coalition was form and present a good candidate, they won too” She remarked. She reiterated that she will not join the APC but if there is going to be a formidable coalition and they present a good candidate, she will join them because she wants to win the 2018 election.

It could be recalled that a Peace Communique was signed by all Flagbearer Aspirants of the SLPP in February this year. In that communique, they agreed on the following but not limited to; Free Access to the Party Offices across the country to Flagbearer Aspirants another Party members, Cancellation of all suspensions and expulsion of party members and executive, to investigate or possibly rerun the 39 constituencies lower level elections.

However, with the recent row within the SLPP over the said communiqué, IJ Kabba said that the SLPP would lose the 2018 Presidential race to State House.
