The prosecution witness, Sergeant 6399 Brima Bangura attached to the OSD Division, Central Police Station testified in Court on Wednesday 29th March 2017 before Magistrate Dr. Abu Bakarr Binneh Kamara at the Freetown Magistrate Court No.1 that on Wednesday April 27th 2016, he was on duty when the accused persons came to his police station with the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) masquerade ‘Arie –Wutehteh’ and started using invective words on them.
He added that he saw the accused persons holding sticks and other deadly weapons and when they (the police) asked the accused persons to move away from the police station, the accused persons started pelting stones on them.
He went on that the accused people went to the Freetown City Council (FCC) Office and started burning tires in front of the FCC office. He continued that the accused persons went on and damaged a Mercedes Benz that was parked in front of the Freetown City Council Office. He added that their boss later instructed them to go to the Freetown City Council Office and stopped the accused people from destroying other valuable properties.
Sergeant 6399 Brima Bangura went on that when they reached at the Freetown City Council Office the accused people also throw stones at them. He added that as the accused people persistently attacked them with stones, they fired tire gas in the air to stop them.
He continued that as the second accused person was behaving outrageously, they arrested him and took him to the Central Police Station. He added that the other accused people were also arrested and taken to the Central Police Station.
Magistrate Dr. Abu Bakarr Binneh Kamara adjourned the matter to Friday April 28th 2017 for continuation and the accused people are all on bail.
