The court case looking into the gruesome murder of late ruling All Peoples Congress (APC) party youth Mohamed Taimeh 6 inside the Opposition Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) stronghold of Kenema has continued with two additional witnesses testifying in shocking details of how the late man was mercilessly tortured. The court has yesterday April 5th 2017, heard from the 4th Prosecution Witness (PW4), a police officer, about the condition of the murdered youth’s body with the skull cracked open, the neck broken, one of his eyes plucked open amongst a list of other terrible signs of excessively brutal physical torture.
Earlier on April 3rd 2017, whilst testifying in the same court room as third Prosecution Witness (PW3) for the matter, one of the brothers of the late APC Youth, Sheku Taimeh recounted how he was seated at their parlor eating, then he heard voices shouting outside there veranda at 9 Abdulai Street, Kenema Town. He said, he suddenly heard voices at their compound saying in Krio “ You dae go, we nor dae lef u yaa,” which in English means “Your are going with us. We are not going to allow you to stay.”
He said, immediately, he came out to check what was the problem, there he met accused persons 1,2,3,4,5 & 6 fighting with the late man Mohamed Taimeh 6 to forcefully take him for initiation into the Poro society.
Sheku Taimeh 1 said he attempted to stop the accused persons but they couldn’t listen to him. He said, as a member well grounded with the ethics and authority of the society, he urgently called on phone Aunty Hawa a “ MABORLEH” in the society and demanded her high authority to rescue the late man, but in response, she told him she was not feeling bright.
Sheku Taimeh 1 said he rushed to Aunty Hawa’s house to explain the serious nature of the matter. He said, Aunty Hawa chose to escort him to the scene where his brother was taken. He said upon their arrival at the scene, they met the accused going towards College Secondary School and at the time Aunty Hawa commanded them to leave the victim in her care and stop beating him, but that the furious and stubborn accused deferred her and threaten to deal with her.
Meanwhile, in yesterday’s hearing, lead investigator, Detective Police Constable 6309 Hassan Koroma attached to Eastern Regional Criminal Investigation Department (CID) testified that after the police were informed about the barbaric and outdated murder of late Mohamed Taimeh 6, a team of police led by detective Inspector James Kapu visited Kajama Village, where the incident took place. He said, at Kajama Village the corpse of late Mohamed Taimeh 6 was found lying at the back of a hut, with both hands and feet tied together with white shirt and black inner tier rubbers used as stream.
Hassan Koroma testified that the corpse was brought to the hospital for postmortem. He identified the ropes and shirt tendered as exhibit from the prosecution team, led by Inspector Mrs May, as evidence but told the court that the shirt at the scene was not given at the hospital by the doctor who conducted the postmortem as a result of the bad nature of the deceased body; therefore he was buried with it.
He added that upon examination and postmortem result, the deceased was killed as a result of sever torture, which left on him a cracked skull, a broken neck and a left eye burst with blood from head.
He confirmed that the examination of postmortem was done by Doctor Masuba at the Kenema Government Hospital and issued result to the police with death certificate. As a result, the seven accused persons where charged upon the advice of the state council with Conspiracy to murder and murder.
Meanwhile the accused persons named; Gamor Fomba, Abdulai Quee, Gebao Gaima, Lansana Lahai, Hassan Batilo and others were all denied bail by Magistrate Alhaji Koroma, and the matter was adjourned to the 12th April,2017.
