To get a first-hand information about the progress of Voice of Islam Radio Station in Freetown, one of its financers who is a member of the Board of Director, Moas Africa Foundation, Sheik Dr. Mohammad Ibn Abdulai Kharan has on Thursday 6th. April paid his maiden visit to the shores of Sierra Leone to get abreast with the operations of the radio station.
In his brief statement to his audience at the Al-Quraitul Qur’an College, Shell New Road, East of Freetown, Sheik Dr. Mohammad Ibn Kharan expressed his gratitude to staff of Voice of Islam for the kind reception given to him. He added that he is impressed with the progress of the radio station and to meet people in Sierra Leone who are very much determined to see the spread of Islam.
On the challenges of the radio station he said, it would have been very difficult to understand the challenges of the radio station if he didn’t visit the station. “Now that I have come myself, it’s becomes so simple for me to get first-hand information about the station and he more determined now to help the radio” He said. He vowed that he will do more upon his return to Saudi Arabia.
One of the Voice of Islam preachers, Sheik Fomba Swaray said, Dr. Mohammad Ibn Abdulai Kharan was the first person to buy the first tramission for the radio that cost $30,000 and has being contributing immensely for the radio station go nationwide. He added that, Dr. Kharan is an Arabian that is very much passonate about the spread of Islam in Africa and the world at large. He expressed that they very much happy to host Dr. Kharan and it was even a surprise to them to see him in Sierra Leone.
Sheikh Sawliah Umar Fofanah, Member of Sierra Muslim Missionaries Union who also represents the eastern region in the occasion maintained that he is the happiest person amongst all Muslims in the gathering to host the man who has been so supportive to the radio station behind scene which a lot of Muslims has benefited from across the country. “The positive impact of Voice of Islam in Sierra Leone cannot be explained in a statement, you need to write a whole book it has changed a lot of lives. There was a boat that lost direction while out in the sea, the only way they get to know their way back was through Voice of Islam. They called through the Voice of Islam studio’s mobile number and Voice of Islam announced it and military personnel were dispatched and those people were rescued” he narrated.
