Dr. Richard Konteh, former Chief of Staff to the President, has on Tuesday 11th April 11th 2017, praised God for him being discharged and set free on all counts charges levied against him in June 2014.
According to an Order from the judiciary, issued yesterday afternoon, “because there had been no evidence tendered by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), the following three persons are discharged with immediate effect: Mr. Alie Suma, Dr. Richard Konteh and Mr. Leslie Peter Crosby.
It could be recalled that in June 2014, Dr. Konteh, a former Deputy Finance Minister and former Trade Minister before his assignment as Chief of Staff inState House, was fired from his job, detained for some time, released on bail and prosecuted for various alleged offences.
However, according to a release yesterday from the Law Officers Department, the DPP has not adduced evidence to proceed with the case brought against the Honourable statesman and fellow accused mentioned above. As a consequence, all their properties and monies have been released back to them including their passports and conveyances, earlier seized from them.
Speaking to Awareness Times at the Law Courts, a jubilant Dr. Konteh thanked God and said “I am not surprised because I knew I was innocent from the start.”
