The Concern for Human Development Association (CHODA), a non-political, religious and tribal association has on Sunday 2nd April 2017 unanimously elected new executive members to serve as interim body for the period of three months. The meeting was held at the Association’s edifice in Old Railway Line, Brima Lane, East of Freetown Municipality.
This decision came about because of the long period of dormancy in the activities of the Association. The Chairman of the occasion who also doubles as former chairman of the Association, Mr. Gibril S. Kallon upon consultation with past and present executive, dissolved the old executive base on lack of effective participation of members into meetings and to allow new members to join the Association for it intended purpose. Chairman Kallon said CHODA was established to promote awareness, peace, human rights, gender and the welfare of its members. He reiterates that CHODA is a non-religious, non-tribal or regional and non-politicalAssociation; it allows people from different works of life to join with the common goal of human development. “CHODA must continue to function with or without inactive members. As chairman of CHODA, I hereby dissolve the current executive of CHODA and call on all present to elect new executive to serve as Interim for the period of three months” said Gibril S. Kallon. Mr. Joseph Bai Sheka Conteh supported the decision and it was endorsed by a two third majority present at the meeting.
Chairman Kallon further declared all executive positions vacant and called on members to nominate competent people to serve in the interim body.
It was agreed by the house to elect persons as Chairman, Secretary General, Deputy Secretary General, Financial Secretary/Treasurer, Welfare Office, Chief Whip and Deputy and PRO.
The following persons were elected into various positions as interim.
Chairman, Mr. Mustapha Tarawallie, Secretary General, Mr. Emmanuel I. Kamara, Deputy Secretary General, Mr. Samuel Lansana Fornah, Public Relations Officer, Mr. Alieu Mansaray, Welfare Officer, Mr. Musa Kanu (D Rule), Financial Secretary/Treasurer, Mr. Saidu Kamara (Osaka), Chief Whip, Aiah Tommy and Deputy Whip, Ibrahim Turay (Chibonda). An advisory committee was also formed with; Mr. Gibril S. Kallon, Mr. Joseph Bai S. Conteh, Paps Yayah Bangura and Mrs. Fatu Basngura as members of that council.
Mr. G. S. Kallon called on the new interim body to work together for the progress of the Association. “The only way you guys can succeed reviving this Association is to work as a team, team work is the only way to success. I therefore called on you all work for the proper coordination of the Association for this short and challenging period” He ended.
In his remarks, the newly elected interim chairman, Mr. Mustapha Tarawallie thanked the membership of CHODA who have entrusted such responsibility to him. He vowed to work for the progress of the organization. He however called on new members to join the association with an agreed fee of Le10, 000 as registration.
Members of CHODA present at the meeting also agreed that Sunday 30th July 2017 has been slated for general election.
