In answering to the clarion call of His Excellency the President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma for all stakeholders in the All Peoples Congress (APC) party to engage their people to register in the ongoing voter and civil registration exercise, Adams Foday Bangura has on Sunday 9thApril 2017 summoned members from Old & New Low cost, Grass-field, Brima Lane communities to discuss more strategies to get people to register in the ongoing registration process in the country.
In his brief statement to his audience, Adams Bangura disclosed that upon his arrival from the UK, he visited various registration centers in different communities, he noticed that there was a poor turnout at the various registration centers in those communities but upon his intervention, people are now queuing to be registered. Speaking on the importance of the voterís registration, Adams said people cannot make a change in their community if they refused to register because it is the only way or means through which they can make a change and attract development in the community. He further disclosed that though the civil registration process has some cumbersome procedure but that must not stop them from exercising their democratic rights. He went on that when he returned to Sierra Leone, he first visited few registration centers and he noticed that there was a poor turnout at some centers due to the absence of Witness Form and he brought it to the attention of some of officials of the National Electoral Commission and it was addressed immediately. He therefore urged his people to go and register and exercise their constitutional rights as one way of showcasing their patriotism.
The Limba Tribal Head, Alhaji Kandeh Sheba Bangura similarly urged the people to register because the voterís ID card is very important in exercising national functions especially out of the country. He added that the voterís ID card is free as no cost is attached to it and the only thing that is required is for the people to be cautious and determined to exercise their rights. He added that even if you donít want to vote but go out and register.
Idrissa Tarawallie underscored the significant contributions of Adams Bangura on the ongoing civil registration process in the community. He added that Adams has toured the entire constituency urging members of the public to go and register. He therefore called on stakeholders from various communities to emulate the character of Adams Bangura and he went on thatĒAdams Bangura as a true son of the soil and upon hearing the call of His Excellency President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma that community stakeholders should urge their people to register. He left his comfort place and job at the United Kingdom and came to Sierra Leone mainly to talk to his people to register; to him Adams Bangura is very patriotic to his country mama Salone.
