The Vice President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Honourable Ambassador Dr. Victor Bockarie Foh on Tuesday 11thApril 2017, hailed Honourable Karifala Sheku Conteh, Member of Parliament representing Constituency 098 in the East End of Freetown over a stunning speech the MP delivered in the commissioning of a 24-hour solar panel in the Levuma Community Health Centre, in Kenema District.
Hon. VP Foh described the young and eloquent MP as an outspoken gem of Sierra Leone, whom he likened to himself as he used to be an outspoken MP during his era in the Well of Parliament since 1996. VP Foh added that “The APC is always good in producing eloquent MPs in Parliament even when I was in Parliament, we used to win the Debate but lost the Vote because of numbers. Hon. Kello is a good debater which quality he has manifested to us this afternoon”VP Foh commended Hon. Kello and openly stated that Hon. Kello’s presentation was excellent and represent a true APC soldier.

Speaking as the Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Oversight Committee on Energyon behalf of the chairman who was unavoidably absent, Hon. Karifala Sheku Conteh applauded the British governmentfor providing the funds through DfID and UNOPS for implementing the project. He added that “The APC doesn’t believe in centralizing development that is why you are witnessing a grand breaking ceremony today in commissioning this solar panel in Levuma CHC that will provide 24hrs light which will boast the health delivery in Levuma and its environs” He ended by calling on authorities in Levuma to take ownership of the project and provide security for it sustainability.
However, the Ministry of Energy and Power through the President Recovery Priorities with funds from the UK government have commissioned four solar panels that will supply 24hrs light in four health centres in Mambolo, Kukuna in Kambia district, Koinadugu 2 in Koinadugu district and Levuma in Kenema district this April. The project targets 50 health centres across the country to be commissioned before the end of June this year.
Amongst those who graced the ceremony were; British High Commissioner, Guy Warrington and his wife, DfID country Manager, Simon Kenny, UNOPS country Manager, Nick Gardner, Resident Minister East, Karmoh Kabbah, Minister of Energy and Power, Ambassador Henry O. Maculley and a host of traditional leaders and other dignitaries.
