The ruling All Peoples Congress (APC) Party yesterday Tuesday 18th April 2017, mourns its fourth (4th) ambassadors to have died within just three (3) months. His Excellency Mr. Siray Timbo, Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) , died suddenly in the Senegalese capital of Dakar after he was flown there for medical checkup, following a short illness here in Sierra Leone.

Family sources say he had traveled to Sierra Leone to take part in the ongoing voter’s registration.

Amb. Ibrahim Kamara: Died in February

Meanwhile, it could be recalled that few days ago, Youth Ambassador, Edward Mokuwa Kamara also died here in Freetown, days after returning from the United Kingdom. In a social media statement on Tuesday 11th April 2017, Leonard Balogun Koroma, APC 2018 Elections Coordinator and Diaspora Coordinator said “He was an active and committed member of the All Peoples Congress (APC) party U. K. and I branch and was also very visible and active in party activities back home in Sierra Leone.”

Just before that, another diplomat who came to Sierra Leone to take part in the ongoing registration, Deputy Ambassador to the Gambia, Mrs. Rosaline Oya Sankoh, died a day after arriving in the country. Sierra Leone Embassy sources in The Gambia say, Hon. Rosaline Oya Sankoh had left the Gambia on Sunday 19th March 2017, and boarded a flight in Senegal during the early hours of Monday 20th March 2017, to arrive in Sierra Leone to register, only to die on Tuesday 21st March, 2017.

Amb. Rosaline Oya Sankoh: Died in March

Before that, in February, the Ambassador to Kuwait, Mr. Ibrahim Orsoya Kamara, who had also traveled to Freetown to attend a political event, passed away three days after his arrival.

Giving his take to some of these deaths, Sierra Leone current Ambassador to the Republic of South Korea, His Excellency Omrie Michael Golley, who spoke to this writer yesterday during a telephone call interview from his office in Seoul, said the recent deaths of his colleagues are major blows to the country’s diplomatic missions. HE Omrie Golley further reflected on the cordiality he had, working with his “brothers,” the late ambassadors to UAE and Kuwait, whom they all worked in Asia together. He said, he believes that Sierra Leone has lost very hardworking diplomats, who were brothers to him. The country’s Ambassador to South Korea almost burst into tears as he expressed his condolences to the families and friends of the late ambassadors. He said “this is a shocking moment for everyone in the county.”

Amb. Edward Mokuwa Kamara: Died in April

Meanwhile, it could be recalled that the National Secretary General of the APC, Ambassador Osman Foday Yansaneh, who was also the country’s Ambassador to the Republic of Ghana had called for prayers for the recent increase in death rate of his party’s loyalists.

The APC National Scribe made that statement on Sunday 9th April 2017, to a galaxy of APC hierarchy, government officials, loyalists and supporters, who thronged Yele Town, chiefdom headquarters of Gbonkolenken, in Tonkolili District, Northern Sierra Leone, to pay their last respect with an heroic funeral for the late Rosaline Oya Sankoh. During his statement, OF Yansaneh as he is fondly called, said that the APC Party has been greatly challenged lately with the increased number of deaths of its loyalists.

Amb. Siray Timbo: Died yesterday

He therefore called for massive prayers from all APC supporters, so that God could guide them through their leadership transition period. He said the APC has really suffered shocking losses lately and that he prays that God could keep the remaining loyalists so that they could help sail the party through its current leadership transition.
