Welcoming the guests, Mr. Williams Tieh, National Coordinator for Hope 4 Ebola Orphans Foundation described the event as a unique way of celebrating the independence Anniversary with kids who he said are the leaders of tomorrow.
“And it is really nice you are here to convey messages of independence and also to educate the children about the importance of celebrating this great day in our country’s history’’ said Mr. Williams.
While introducing the staff and care-givers at the center, he explained to the visitors about the activities of the center and also success stories of Hope 4 Ebola Orphans Foundation. He noted that the Chief Executive Officer of Hope, Mama Mayila Yansaneh, whom he said is passionate about children’s issues has been very proactive to garner resources to seek the welfare of children at the center, adding that she has also been very supportive to other vulnerable children in slum areas including Moa Wharf and other part of the country.
In her statement, Miss Moseray expressed joy to celebrate the Independence Anniversary which coincides with her birthday with the children at the center.
She highlighted the efforts of the management and team at Hope for the amazing upbringing they are providing to the children at the center. She stated that “Places like Mama Mayila’s Cradle restore one’s faith in humanity.”
“The world still has people with hearts made of Gold.
This selfless act of ours will hopefully encourage others to do something similar, or at least I hope it does. Rather than having extravagant parties every year, maybe if we all did something like this for the children in orphanages, at least once a year, I’m sure there will be a lot more happy children around us, and a little sense of accomplishment in our hearts’’ Miss Moseray explained.
According to her, as Young women leaders they also graced the Independence celebration at Hope Interim Care Centre in order to inspire children to be successful people in the future.
Vidal Sesay and Alfred Fornah who represented S4CCC-SL, enlightened the children about the importance of the independence celebration, and also took them through some historical facts about Sierra Leone.
Speaking on behalf of the Children, Dee who was in a jubilant mood thanked the visitors for celebrating this year’s Independence Anniversary at the center with them.
The programme climaxed with the cutting of a special birthday cake and presentation of gifts by Miss Moseray and Team to the children.
