In her introduction statement, Mrs Bernadette Cole explained the importance of the World's Press Freedom day in the field of journalism and how it has helped journalist to perform their work effectively. She thanks the MACOSA executive for organising a program in such a unique and outstanding manner.

In his statement, Head of Department, Mr Tonya Musa , surrounded his statement on the importance of the program towards students in the department, and he round it up all by  expressing his appreciation to the executive for such a great drive.

According to the chairman of the Independent Media Commission (IMC), he started by highlighting the importance of the celebration to journalist, and also compared life during the military reign in the country, where access was not been given to journalist to perform their work effectively. He gave accolade to the lecturers of the department, who have been the key leaders in limiting the unethical practices of journalists in the country. He further recognised their effort also for being one of the key architects in the formulation of the media code of practice.

The IMC Chairman concluded his statement by explaining some of the current work the commission is embarking on, in helping journalist to perform their work effectively.

The president of the Sierra Leone Journalist Association, Mr Kelvin Lewis, in his statement threw light on his official statement he sent out on May 3 rd, which centres on the calling for the President to repeal the criminal libel law.

He encouraged students to be part of the association when practising journalism in the country. He concluded by assuring students that the success of the profession lies in their hands.

In addition, Professor Ritchard M'bayo, who served as the lead presenter of the programme, focused his statement on comparing the media in America and the United Kingdom to that of the media in Sierra Leone.

He further comprehensively explained ten failures of the media in Sierra Leone. He concluded his lecture by giving a keynote address which he stated that the media in sierra Leone will never be seen in performing their roles in the democratic process because they lack the financial strength.

The curtain of the program was drawn down by a perfect vote of thanks given by the president of the Mass Communications Students' Association, Madam Theriyeh Koroma.
