On Monday 28th May 2017, some indigenes of Rotifunk in Bumpeh Chiefdom have responded to the cry of the Chiefdom by donating thirteen (13) bundles of zinc and other valuable items to help fixed up the school that was destroyed by a heavy storm of rain that swept off the roof of the Bumpeh Academy Secondary School.

It could be recalled that the Chiefdom Youth Leader, Mr. Alpha Ben Mansaray was the first to mount up the campaign to assist the school authorities to repair the school, after the heavy storm.   That campaign was to ensure that the children would return back to school soonest. According to Mr. Alpha Ben Mansaray, the Chiefdom Youth Leader disclosed that in response to the appeal he launched to get support for the school he succeeded in luring the minds of three people who happen to be indigenes of Rotifunk in Bumpeh Chiefdom who consented to come to the aid of the school children.

He added that Mr. Alton Bendu who resides in Norway donated five (5) bundles of zinc and ten packets of nails and the former Honorable Emma Clay Simbo Frazer also donated three (3) bundles of zinc. He went on to say that Mrs. Fawaz also came to the aid of the children by donating five bundles of zinc.

These items were formally presented by the Chiefdom Youth Leader, in the presence of Councilor Abu Bakarr Mansaray of ward 292, the Chiefdom speaker, Alhaji Tim Fofanah and other Chiefdom stakeholders to the school administrator. In receiving the donated items, the school administration expressed their gratitude to those who came to their aid and supported the school children who have for a long time been unavoidable absent from school and they called on the government and other stakeholders to do the same as they are in need of more building materials to complete the construction of the entire school building and possible construct new ones to reduce or wipe entire the problem of accommodation that the school going children normally faced with in the school.

The ceremony was climaxed with a vote of thanks given by Helen Bangura, a pupil of the school who on behalf of the school expressed their profound thanks and appreciations to the Chiefdom Youth Leader, Mr. Alpha Ben Mansaray who she described as the pioneer of the donations and she went on to say that when the incident occurred they were frustrated as they had no hope or knowledge of people that would come to their aid. She added that but to their greatest surprised the Chiefdom Youth Leader took upon himself and canvasses the support of people to their school. She concluded by thanking all those who donated the items to them and asked the government of Sierra Leone through the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology to support the school with furniture and other  academic materials.
