Sierra Leone News : SLRA & CHICO Company Present Signing Agreement to President Ernest Bai Koroma for the Rehabilitation of BO – Bandajuma Road

The Director General of the Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA), Ing. Mrs. Memuna Kumba Jalloh and the head of the CHICO Construction Company, Kong Weigong on Friday June 9th 2017 at State House presented the signing agreement to His Excellency Ernest Bai Koroma for the rehabilitation of the Bo- Bandajuma roads project.


Receiving the document that contains the signing agreement on behalf of the country, President Ernest Bai Koroma thanked the SLRA and the African Development Bank (AfDB) for their tremendous efforts in making the Bo – Bandajuma roads rehabilitations project a reality. He added that as a government they are very elated for the project as it helps in improving the infrastructural facilities of the country which his government has prioritized. He went on to say that the roads when completed will help greatly in accessibility and save the time of people especially in connecting of people to district and headquarters town.

He added that the rehabilitation of the roads is very important to the government because it is part of the commitment that government made at the Mano River Union in the just concluded ECOWAS Summit. ‘Today we have signed and the next stage is implementation and the Sierra Leone Roads Authority is charged with the responsibility to implement. The quality of the roads must be adhere to and what is contained in the agreement must be executed to the fullest especially the time frame of the completion of the project,” said President Ernest Bai Koroma.

 

He urged Civil Societies organizations to help in the monitoring of the project so that it will be successfully implemented.

 

The Minister of Works, Honorable Alhaji Kemoh Sesay who also doubles as the Chairman of the Ceremony in his opening remarks said that the signing ceremony is part of the strides in pursuing president’s Ernest Bai Koroma agenda in the post Ebola Recovery priority of the country. He added that having looked at the proposed plan for the project he is cleared that the project is an action oriented program that focusing on the provision of good and accessible roads for the people of the country especially those that are using the BO- Bandajuma high way top other places of the country.

 

The Director General of the Sierra Leone Roads Authority, Ing. Mrs. Memuna Kumba Jalloh during the signing ceremony said that the total cost of the project USD 17,739,865.66 and it is expected that the CHICO Company to complete the project not later than twenty four months (24) so that people would benefit from the good efforts of the government and its developmental partners to ensure that people have good roads throughout the country. She added that the SLRA do not make any mistakes by granting the contract to the CHICO Company as the contract was awarded based on merit.

 

The Director General of the CHICO Construction Company, Kong Weigong vouched that they would not only work within the time frame of the project but they would ensure that they provide for the people of Bo- Bandajuma Roads quality and durable roads that will help to connect them to various places of the country.
