Sierra Leone News : Over Alleged Case of Unlawful Possession of 16 Bales of Mosquito Bed Nets…Accused Persons Pleaded Guilty

The two accused persons Amadu Mojo Barrie a truck driver and Ishmael Mambu a store keeper Friday 30th June 2017 have been remanded at the Pademba Road Male Correctional Centre in Freetown, after pleading guilty before the presiding Magistrate Dr. Abu Bakarr Binneh Kamara of the Freetown Magistrate Court No.1 at Law Court Building in Freetown for the offences of conspiracy and unlawful possession of sixteen (16) bales of Mosquito bed nets which were believed to have been unlawfully obtained by the accused persons.


The accused persons who have already pleaded guilty to the charges in court, were charged on three counts of conspiracy contrary to law and two counts charge of unlawful possession of contrary to section 13 (1) of CAP .37 as amended by section 5 of ACT No. 6 1981.

 

According to police charge sheet, the accused persons Amadu Mojo Barrie a truck driver and Ishmael Mambu a store keeper between Wednesday 31st May and Wednesday 14th June 2017 at Kambia Township in the Madamaya Chiefdom at Madamaya check point in the Kambia District in the Northern Province of the Republic of Sierra Leone were arrested by police with sixteen (16) bales of Mosquito bed nets which police believed that they were unlawfully obtained.

 

After the charges were read over to the accused persons, both of them pleaded guilty. The first accused person, Amadu Mojo Barrie a truck driver separately told Magistrate Dr. Abu Bakarr Binneh Kamara that it was indeed true that police only arrested him with four (4) bales of mosquito bed nets and the second accused person Ishmael Mambu a store keeper also confess that it was indeed true that police only arrested him with fourteen (14) bales of mosquito bed nets.

 

After that, Magistrate Dr. Abu Bakarr Binneh Kamara ordered that the accused persons should be taken to the Pademba Road Male Correctional Center in Freetown and he adjourned the case to Tuesday July 11 2017.
