Abdul Malik Bangura, editor of Sierra Leone’s most widely read newspaper, Awareness Times, who is also the youngest newspaper editor in Africa at age 25 years, flew out of Sierra Leone yesterday to attend a conference at the Desmond Tutu Convention Center, Nairobi Kenya as one of fifty (50) specially selected election experts, representatives of electoral bodies and high-level media practitioners from the 13 African countries slated to conduct elections over the next 18 months. Their 2-days meeting starts tomorrow and will discuss the ‘Covering of Elections in Africa’.

Hon. Dr. Sylvia Blyden and Abdul Malik Bangura

Meanwhile, I flew out of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia yesterday after a successful African Union High Level Panel on Gender Equality and Women Empowerment. I am now in transit in Nairobi Kenya heading back home to Sierra Leone today. Although many of my colleague Gender Ministers are still in Addis Ababa so as to be with their Presidents at the AU Heads of State Summit which starts today in Addis Ababa, I could not wait because there is so much work waiting back home. So much to do...

Anyway, as I transited through Jomo Kenyatta International Airport this morning, I met Abdul Malik Bangura with his senior journalist colleague Mr. Tanu Jalloh. These are the photos of the scene when 3 productive Sierra Leonean citizens met at Kenya’s airport. As always, feel free to reshare and hope to update you all again soon - from inside Sierra Leone.
